Leicester University Botanic Gardens

The Leicester University botanic Gardens are situated on London Road about 3 miles left of the railway station and near the racecourse. Admission is free.

The water gardenThere are a few old houses in the gardens. This is the knoll.

This is Hastings House and was built in 1902

The spring crocus

There are also several glasshouses which include this one with spring bulbs

And the tropical one with this bird of paradise plant

All in all the gardens are a very pleasant surprise and as good if not better than nearly all the ones in the peak district with the exception of Chatsworth.
