Cromford to Matlock

I decided to visit the Matlock Victorian market and at the same time walk again down the Cromford canal and through Matlock Bath. The cromford mills are now disued and have a number of small shops and cafe. Its a very nice area to wander around and well worth visiting if going to Matlock Bath.

Lincoln Christmas Market 2009

The Lincoln Christmas market is the biggest in the UK with over 300 stalls and more than 150,000 visitors across the 4 days. However having visited on Friday last year and Saturday this it became obvious that Saturday is far,far busier. In fact inside the castle it was almost impossible to look at any of the stalls as the sheer weight of people just pushed you though the centre. If given the choice always go on the Friday as at least you have some chance to browse.

Nottingham Christmas Lights

Nottingham market square always appears impressive due to the large domed council building and the new water feature and fountains. There is also ample space for a Christmas market and ice skating rink. With two shopping centres nearby it makes an ideal place to do Christmas shopping in the midlands.

Ludlow Medieval Fayre 2009

Each year in late November Ludlow holds a medieval Christmas fayre and market inside the castle. There were numerous market stalls in large tents selling food and various goods plus falconry displays, fire artists, medieval musicians and singers and a fighting display by knights in full armour. The admission cost was £6.00 to enter the castle.
